Activity Summary

Prefabricated wall and roof panels are transforming wood construction by improving speed, cost efficiency, and quality control. This session examines how building in a controlled, climatized facility protects materials, ensures precision, and reduces weather-related delays. Attendees will discover the structural benefits of prefabricated systems, including enhanced integrity, performance, and energy efficiency. Specialty wall and panel systems will be reviewed, along with practical applications for residential and commercial projects. Through examples, participants will gain insight into how prefabrication can streamline timelines, reduce risk, and deliver superior results, equipping them to confidently incorporate these innovations into future builds.

This session will be presented by an industry professional from OT Timber Frames.

Learning Objectives

  1. Understand the benefits of prefabricating wall and roof panels, including improvements in speed of construction, cost efficiency, and overall quality control.
  2. Recognize the advantages of assembling structures in a climatized facility rather than on-site, minimizing weather-related delays and material degradation.
  3. Discover how prefabricated systems enhance structural integrity and meet or exceed performance requirements for wood buildings.
  4. Review and discuss specialty wall and panel systems, establishing best practices for their integration into residential and commercial projects.
