2016 GBM Testimonials and Comments

Exhibitors

“The event preplanning was timely and meticulous. The events ran amazingly smoothly and as scheduled. The evening events were spectacular. Architect John Paktau’s presentation at the Audain Museum was appreciated. Event organizers were all helpful, calm and thorough. The exhibitor mini seminar was well received, format good, but we could have used a bit more time. First Nations carvers/artists James Harry and Rick Harry were very well received. The chair lift experience Thursday evening was very classy, and with Brian greeting everyone at the top-brilliant. The entire experience seemed very personal, and not a mass produced commodity experience. Appreciate your efforts.”

– Barker Manufacturing

“As usual a great event put on by the BC Wood Group for bringing people from all over the world together.”

-Daizen Joinery

“Every year GBM offers a great chance for us to mix with our existing customers and some new opportunities as well as spend some time and have some great conversations with other suppliers on what they are facing. Very good event!”

-Conifex Fibre Marketing

“Ontario has been participating in GBM for many years, our companies especially in the building products sector and value added wood products have had a lot of success in securing quality leads and subsequent sales.”

-Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry

“The GBM is a great platform for the industry to meet annually and discuss what interests them most, with opportunities to generate business from overseas buyers, especially for those who are new in the industry.”

-Brightwood In’t Trading Ltd.

“We continue to find the GBM valuable as it provides the opportunity to establish connections with new markets as well as a setting to foster relationships with existing suppliers.”

-Coast Fraser Enterprises

“This event continues to be the best trade show that we attend as a company and continues to get excellent reviews from our attending clients. The size of the venue and intimate feel of the event always leaves an impression with new and veteran attendees alike. The social evening at the art gallery was a real stand out this year – good work!!”

WoodTALKS

“It is a very interesting mix of participants. All of the presentations are well done and informative and at least one of them every year is especially memorable.”

“This is an excellent program which has introduced me to many new products and companies that can provide services that I can use in my designs. I think that the tours are exceptional – providing a great deal of information in such a live method. Last year there were a few presentations that were more technical and I missed those this year. Again in 2105 the professor with the composite floor presentation was mind provoking; perhaps a bit too far into the engineering end of the equations. Also last years presentations were helpful when discussing issues of building code limitations and efforts to overcome them. Thank you for all your efforts to educate us and show us the great creativity of the Canadians. Also I would like to note that Roy Manion is a great host, makes us feel very welcome. The support staff area also effective and helpful.”

“Overall I love this conference and look forward to it every year! One comment: could we have more seminars to allow the Architects more CE credits? Last year was 9.25 and this year was only 6…it would make it more worthwhile to have more credits (as typically when you do a day course you get 7.5 credits; I had to take a day and a half off work so 9.25 credits makes sense…but getting less than a days worth of credits isn’t great…) Thank you!”

“Having a tour of a building is always educational. Possibly seminars on the Thursday morning. A big thank you to the BC Wood Team for hosting another terrific Conference!”

Buyers

We enjoy GBM a lot. For us there’s always a busy schedule meeting with suppliers and discussing contracts, but we like the face to face opportunities and travelling with Taiwan fellow buyers. We purchased about 100,000m2 lumber during the visit and I am sure there will be more business coming up between us and BC Suppliers.”

-Amy Chao, VP of Jung Dih Enterprise

“It was a very useful event and we get to see many organisations at one time. For new buyers, it would be great if all companies could have a presentation or graphic introduction at their booth introducing their company and capacities.”

-Harry Wu, VP, Chung Lien Timber Corp.

“This letter is to extend my thanks for your organizing the GBM last September, which made us get a better understanding about efficient wood processing and scientific management of forest products in Canada, and also help us build in-depth cooperation relationship after the face-to-face communication in Whistler. Till now, through the cooperation with Interex, Olympic, and so on, our procurement increased 20 thousand cubic meters. Please take my sincere thanks for your assistance, and we wish your activity this year a completely success, and bring more participants results. Thanks again, and please bring my thanks to the government of Canada for the kindness.”
