FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT THE GBM

The GBM event itself including Registration and the two delicious morning breakfasts are held in the Whistler Conference Centre, located at 4010 Whistler Way.  A map/link with all the important GBM locations/destinations will be included in your confirmation documents.
You will come to the Whistler Conference on Thursday afternoon, between 1:00 -5:30 PM to pick-up your nametag, Mission Program Guide and event bag.  You must wear your nametag to all events during the GBM, so we know who you are and that you should be there!  This is an invitation-only, pre-registration event so if you are not wearing a nametag, security will likely escort you to our management registration area.
Not a problem!  Just ask security or a staff member to escort you to our registration area and we will reprint your documents.
An international Buyer has been pre-qualified and invited by either one of our international offices, or vetted and invited from an international trade office.  An international Buyer lives offshore or outside of Canada and must pay to travel to Whistler to attend the event.  A Participant is generally a wood products buyer, perhaps representing an off-shore or out of country company that purchases wood from BC.  If the buyer is located or living in BC, then they would be considered a Participant, as they would not have to travel from afar to attend the event.  Our funders have agreed to cost-share some of the expenses, to encourage international Buyer’s attendance at the event.  If you would like more information on what category you qualify for, please contact us at gbm@bcwood.com.
For the majority of attendees, this is your schedule.  If you are an Exhibitor, or part of the WoodTALKS Program, your schedule will be different and you can go to the GBM website and click through to see more information:

Every delegate for the GBM is registered online, either directly or through a Mission Leader.  If you did not yet receive an invitation with your direct link, category and security access code, please contact us at gbm@bcwood.com and we can share!
Your access code should be in your invitation letter, along with your registration category.  If you have misplaced it, please contact us at gbm@bcwood.com.
We would be delighted!  Guests are restricted to attending the evening events only and must be pre-registered for the activities.  If you are already a registered delegate, you would have received an invitation and link to invite a Guest/Spouse and register them online.  If you do not have this link, please contact us at gbm@bcwood.com and we will be happy to send it again.
Business casual covers most of the activities during the GBM.  Thursday evening, we do recommend a light coat or sweater as it does cool down on top of the mountain!  Friday night is generally a little more posh, so you may want to add a blazer to those jeans! Ladies, wear your bling!
Links for hotel bookings and options with rates and availability will be in your confirmation email.  Rooms can start as low as $105 CAD a night!
If you are a Canadian manufacturer or primary distributor/supplier of Canadian wood products, we would welcome your participation!  The GBM is funded in-part by both the Provincial and Federal Governments of Canada so we are happy to support the industry from across Canada.  If you are a supplier to the wood products industry, you should contact us to see if participation in the GBM is suitable for you at gbm@bcwood.com
All Exhibitor information is available if you click-through on the main GBM web page and should have been included in your confirmation email.  But to answer your question, move in is from 5:00 – 9:00 PM Wednesday the 6th and from 8:00 AM – 5:30 PM Thursday September 7th.
Information on your transportation options will be in your confirmation email, whether you are a Buyer, Participant or Exhibitor, but for additional ideas or suggestions (like the train to Whistler) send us an email at gbm@bcwood.com.  We also have a corporate rate at Enterprise and National that we would be more than happy to share with all our GBM delegates! Just ask!
Links for booking golf and all your options with rates will be in your confirmation email.   It will about $175 CAD including cart, lunch and bevie.  Shoes and clubs are extra and that can also be accomplished online!
