Product innovation and new product development is foremost on the minds of many manufacturers as they seek to increase their sales or enter new markets. To help manufacturers succeed, a new public site dedicated to innovation and product development has been launched.

FPIntell is an online tool for sharing ideas related to new product development. Each week there is a new post about a trend or an innovation related to wood and wood manufacturing. They are quick snapshots, 200 words, and a few supporting photos or videos. The posts are intended to spark inspiration and help manufacturers create better, more sustainable, maybe even innovative products. They are also intended to stimulate dialogue as readers are encouraged to share posts with others or leave a comment. This site is directed at but not limited to value-added wood manufacturers.

The ultimate goal is to create a collaborative platform for sharing and generating intelligence to improve products. To encourage this, FPInnovations has created a space where manufacturers and their customers can have authentic conversations about their products to take some of the guess-work out of new product development.

Initially, FPInnovations will generate the majority of the content for these posts through research and attending trade shows. As more readers sign up, and as additional comments are received, it is anticipated that some of the interactions will lead to areas where further investigation is warranted.

If you are interested in new product development, sign up for the weekly newsletter or check out the new site at www.fpintell.fpinnovations.ca
