In response to the unprecedented devastation and hardship caused by the March 11th Tohoku earthquake and tsunami, BCs’ forest products industry has pledged its’ support to both the immediate need for temporary housing and the longer term reconstruction effort for the affected areas of Japan.

As part of the industry-wide initiative, BC Wood’s representatives in Tokyo have been working hard to provide up-to-date information to value-added wood products manufacturers on the requirements for temporary housing. BC Wood, as part of the Canada Wood Group, will also help coordinated financial and in-kind contributions from individuals and companies wanting to pledge their own support to Japan’s longer term reconstruction effort. Discussions are currently underway with both provincial and federal governments on how best to combine Industry and Government support in the most effective way possible.

For more information on how you can make financial or in-kind product contributions to this worthy cause, please contact me at 604-882-7100, or by email at
