On July 14th a shake table test was conducted on a 7 story wood frame building in Miki City near Osaka. The project was organized by a consortium of North American research organizations including Forintek. The test attracted a lot of industry and media attention as it was the largest such test ever conducted. Our friends from COFI even took the opportunity to bring in dozens of guests from Korea and China to show them the possibilities of wood frame construction.

As you can see the test was a success! This is a great endorsement for dimension lumber and Ainsworth's OSB.
I had considered going to see the test, but I couldn't justify the cost of a trip to Osaka just to watch a building shake for 40 seconds (besides it's too hot down there these days!). Now if the building actually fell down… Just kidding!
